This is one of the areas that I really don’t understand. People with disability use the products and services from companies like everyone and sometimes even more than anyone else.
Including all types of disability in adverts can make it easy to know how to reach out and improve products and services for all
Hello @Koi. We are happy to have you on the community.
The exclusion of persons with disabilities in advertising of products and services is a huge challenge, primarily because persons with disabilities are viewed with charity lenses. In addition, there are very superficial standards of beauty and physique in the advertising industry that are also impossible to meet even to those without disabilities.
Its a matter of perception. Fortunately with social media activism and consumers becoming more aware of these injustices like the one you have highlighted in your question, the narrative is changing, albeit slowly. Safaricom is leading the charge in their Tuinuke advert. Lets hope other Kenyan brands will follow suit.
