I am a PwD with spinal cord injury (SCI), I give back to my society despite my disability. When I do this I have a series of emotions, because Usually PwD’s are seen as the recipient’s of benefit.
So, the question I have, do any of you feel joy when you give?
Today there are experiments show evidence that altruism, or giving back, is hardwired in most of our brains. While activities like volunteering are seen as a way to "help" others, it's worthwhile noting that these activities are also transactional in nature. Aside from the sense of joy, each volunteer walks away with some form of learning and knowledge.
