Accessing assistive devices can be quite a challenge. First, they are expensive. Two, they are hard to customize and personalise because they are made from an economies of scale point of view and so its so many units of the same thing..Three, repair and maintenance can be a challenge because its a whole ballgame of finding a workable alternative as you repair the device. The repair is also expensive and could be below standards at times depending on the expertise of the mechanic. Not all mechanics are trained to repair assistive devices.
Not to worry though. Currently there's a wheelchair startup looking to address the above challenges. https://kochi.vercel.app/
Kindly check them out.
Great insights Brian, I will be sure to check them out and see the work they do.
