Nadia Wamunyu is an artist that I have known since my gap year after high school, Nadia is no ordinary lady but a very renowned artist that is also on Wikipedia😱 just googled her before I did a bit of my research, she has a hearing impairment that also makes her struggle with communication as well. Though what makes her a goddess and a queen in the art world is her art, every piece she has worked on come from the experiences she has gone through, her own tastes and a record of memories she shares. As a friend and also her student I have watched her grow throughout the years from her charcoal works both on landscapes and portraits and splash technique on both portraits and animals in her paintings. Well, she has experimented with so many mediums. The beauty that comes with art is also earning from selling your pieces so you can imagine how much she also earns now as a very experienced artist now🤑🤑. Her works have been displayed at the Circle art gallery, One-off contemporary art gallery, Lamu Fort and British Council among many other galleries. YES!!!!!! She has got it! Her recent art which I love is based on Feminism, the ladies appear to be posing in very intriguing ways that are thought provocative and fascinating perspectives of women. The pieces tell different deep stories about being a woman. I do believe our abilities as persons with disabilities are of seeing things ordinary people miss, her support system has played a huge role in her life from her dad who made sure he helped her nature her talent to date to her mentor her teacher and second father Patrick Mukabi who was with her since 2010 to date. I am humbled to have written this post because she has been an
inspiration to me and many, I hope she inspires you too😊😊
