March is women's month. It starts of with 8th March being marked as International Women's Day and then on 21st March, a great woman that holds the story of my life was born, my mum. When I was young, I'd look up to my mum in awe and wonder where she got all the strength. For she wasn't one to be put down by an obstacle instead she'd always work her way to find solutions. She was always on the move and since she was good with her words she could easily express herself and was heard. I guess that's where I get my gift came from, for I live for expression.
I believed maybe if she were born in a different generation or time as a whole she'd have made more impact. Especially in this generation where women have more and more chance to be heard due to the increased women empowerment among many drives for women. But also something in me tells me she was born at the right time.
For her achievements have helped a majority ie through her creating awareness on hemophilia, it helped the need of having a hemophilia clinic set up at the coast. She was also very eager to go out and speak about hemophilia. One might have thought her to be a doctor or journalist for her immense contribution in helping people understand about hemophilia. She had been well versed in hemophilia, for she gave birth to five kids, two boys suffering with hemophilia.
On this day I'd like to remember and celebrate her. She's a true definition of where resilience can put someone and the constant need for creation awareness. She died on May 6th 2019, but many people get to know her from what she achieved and the impact she made.
Today is my mum's birthday
Happy birthday to her
She would have been sixty one now
But instead she's just turned four
Those are four years since she died
Four years since she went to be with her mum
To reunite with all who'd gone before her
So I hope they celebrate her since they're with her
Since she left, two grandkids have been named after her
And in some funny way, through them we see her
It's like shortly after she opted for reincarnation
And that's the beauty of having kids, you'll live on through them
I don't have many of her pictures now
And all those great moments are but memories
But if I ever miss her face I just stare at my reflection
Cause ever since she died I look more & more like her
Today is my mum's birthday
Happy birthday to her
I hope she's found a new home
But if she hasn't, she still has one with us
The PO£T
