Polio

In the early 20th century, polio was one of the most feared diseases in industrialized countries, paralyzing hundreds of thousands of children every year. Soon after the introduction of effective vaccines in the 1950s and 1960s however, polio was brought under control.

Majority of persons with physical disability in their mid-30s and above in Kenya acquired the disability from polio related diseases.

Do you think Kenyans are at a great risk of contracting polio?

Although Kenya has been ranked among the African countries that have managed to control / fight polio, it will depend with preventive and control measures the Government have put in place to prevent the same re-occurring, as well as the financial investment it is willing to allocate it's health sector especially on research.

My answer is yes. considering that there lack of awareness and even when the vaccination is done, its targeted towards specific counties. a majority of children go unvaccinated because our health system is not such inclusive.
