My experience at Neurodivergent’s in Tech Program and Ludiqueworks game development training

Neurodivergent’s in Tech Program is a four-month intense training on IT skills, software testing, java programming, Microsoft Office training and a whole bunch of ICT-related skills.

I went through the training, and it was quite impressive knowing that there is also a job coach who is always there to assist lecturers within every class, ensuring that we are learning at the same pace.

It was so accommodative and the fact that no one was left behind regardless of how fast or slow our progress was with our different levels of Autism, dyslexia, down syndrome and learning difficulty the classes were very successful and we all discovered that we all acquired new skills that helped us continue with the course.

Every assignment was made accommodative to every individual which made it very easy for all of us to understand and if any individual wished to be assisted further it was allowed and the individual would be assisted until they caught the hang of it.

As the lessons progressed, we gained more interest in each unit from web development, graphic design, software testing and everyone’s Favorite unit which is Game Development.

Learning how actually to use software and within that particular software it enables you to code movements and build a game from scratch was interesting and the most fun.

Learning how to create a website through programming was very exciting with Java script and creating commands.

I didn’t know that I would enjoy ICT because I thought it would be too complex for me knowing I have dyscalculia as a learning difficulty that doesn’t love numbers and the language a computer knows is binary right? The program changed my outlook in ICT.

When we finished with the curriculum, we did our assessment, and all passed and had the opportunity to present what we learned in front of our caregivers which was uplifting and encouraging that we gathered the skills that can now finally show that we are fit for employment.

I recently completed a gaming development training that was held at the same University/ the same ICT hub. The training lasted for a month by Ludique works in partnership with Next Step Foundation.

The program was exciting we got to learn the basics of the Unreal engine.

Unreal Engine is a powerful and widely-used game development platform created by Epic Games. It provides developers with a comprehensive set of tools and features to design, build, and deploy high-quality and visually stunning games across various platforms, including PC, consoles, and mobile devices. We got the chance to try out the tools to create simple things such as a table and chair with texture to make them appear real.

We were shown how to create a character and how the character can move and collect objects.

If I were to explain more about it, I would take like 2 pages informing you about the training. YES!!!!☺️😎 It was exciting and very educative.

I highly recommend that caregivers take into consideration admitting their children into such programs because they are very beneficial to not only gaining new skills but for employment opportunities.

This is amazing. I love how you take the reader in a subtle way through the journey of learning for neurodivergents. I hope more and more people take to it so as to expose the learners to this great journey. With the world running on tech, each step towards achieving that is appreciated especially in this case it makes sure no one is left out.
