Movies on Disabilities are becoming stale.

Let's talk about movies and disability. There a ton of movies on the subject, and debate has always been the exclusion of persons with disabilities in making the movies themselves. As a result, Apple set the pace and the lead couple in the movie CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) were actually deaf.

Now that that's settled, can we have a discussion on movies written by persons with disabilities? It's increasingly becoming boring to watch some movies made about disability because of their predictability. It's either basically about overprotectionism or a person with disability trying to live an independent life. Worse off, there's always an element of demise in the movie, either at the tail end of the movie or somewhere mentioned as a distant character.

I have a feeling that we have more persons with disabilities taking the lead to write the movies themselves, the movies would be much better. There would be much depth, intricate storylines and just better and stronger portrayal of disability in the cinema.

What makes it better is the invention of new technologies that can get the job done..I mean, Chat GPT or Bing AI can develop the script, Mind Journey to develop how the scenes should look like, Eleven Labs, an AI tool to make use of voice, can help with the narration, and finally, Thispersondoesnotexist.com can help put a face to actors. No more shusshing of persons with disabilities in the movie industry when machines can literally do what we were told we can't do.

What's more? There are many small studios that can help push the movies to the Netflix of this world and the Amazon's Prime. In any case, a Gmail account comes with a free YouTube account and one can publish their movies there as long as it's not copyrighted or pirated.

Could we have a disability political series to start with please? Like House of cards but for persons with disabilities. Here's another opportunity to decent work for persons with disabilities.

There's Rick and Morty the Adult swim animation created by an Autistic Adult. I think that's one that has been writing by a PWD.... Still thinking of other's

I will check it out

I believe that's true, the aim in production of some of the movies is decremental and doesn't serve the purpose intended. From a PwD perspective would really hit the nail on the head. Wishing to see more producers coming out and showcasing their thoughts and ideas.

I am one of those creative who hope to bring a fresh set of eyes to film and music industry. I've done scripts; novels and short stories revolving round persons with disabilities. Some borrow from my own life for I've tried to live to the fullest without letting disability come in my way. A challenge I face is getting all my works to be out there. For it needs funds, that's why I'm also trying to work out the finances hoping that maybe I'll manage to produce all of them. If anyone knows where I can take my content and get a sponsor or someone to fund my ideas it's appreciated.

I guess its becoming stale because we still not able to talk on everything about disability . I've had friends who've studied Disability Management who tell me when it comes to topics on Sex, Love and Intimacy , they are ignored. I feel its either there's no research along this lines or the simple fact that as persons with disabilities, we still seen to be only needing basic needs so other needs aren't a priority. I feel with time and given the chance to express all that pertains disability, we would have more greater content. It can start from people with ideas getting a chance to bring it out, or people with disability tell people on how our lives are through platform like Enable me.
