LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT YALI!!!!

Yali Regional Leadership program is a leadership training that involves three tracks of study these tracks are ;

  • Business and Entrepreneurship
  • Civic Leadership
  • and Public Management

In a 4-week residential format focusing on individual and leadership skills, innovation, creative learning and communication.

The program really was interactive and was open to experimental learning which played a massive role in building the capacity for my growth in terms of advocacy, I was able to contribute both individually and in teams.

I took my chances once the calling came by. The calling was distributed on various social media platforms, The one I saw was a poster that was encouraging PWD's to apply and join the program.

I went ahead and tried my luck and applied for the program, mind you The application is in the form of an essay, is a highly competitive program and me having little knowledge of essay writing I decided to write it with the bit of knowledge I have on it and wrote it intending to break barriers as a PWD. Guess What happened next??????????

Yes, I did it! I received an acceptance email from YALI and I was over the moon!! I proceeded with the training online on Public Management Cohort 43, interacted with my assignments and engaged with many Yali fellows from different countries in East Africa both in teams and common assignments that we did together through video conference rooms. Before I knew it! I completed the program with a certificate on the completion of the program and not only that I was awarded as one of the most resilient individuals during the training when we had a graduation ceremony online.

As an alumnus with other engagements that went within the YALI community, I decided to vie to be a Participant Engagement committee member so that I can encourage PWD alumni like myself to carry on the flag of impacting society. I was selected to be a PWD champion which I currently hold in Kenya, Nairobi Chapter for the next two years now.

Hoping it inspires many to follow the path of inclusivity for PWDs.

This is amazing. I've heard about YALI and I can clearly say you the first person that I've interacted with that has been to YALI. So it brings the picture closer home.

Such a motivating post. I will give it a try some day. Keep it up.

Am really motivated, I have more information about YALI. Thanks @SarahBosibori
