How to deal with a break up

A breakup is the most painful thing to experience after grieving a loved one who just passed on😭💔.

Losing the love of your life, your first love is an unexplainable phase in life. Knowing that all you have left are memories you shared without the person being there.

While we go through a break up we have the 5 stages of a break-up which are:

  • Denial
  • Anger
  • Bargaining
  • Depression
  • Acceptance

Denial In this phase you go through a refusal/disbelief that a once flourishing relationship has come to an end.

Anger can be triggered and directed in many ways here you can get mad at the ex for ending the relationship and angry at God for not saving the relationship.

Bargaining Here you find ways to make the relationship work again manipulation can be used to threaten the partner to come back.

Depression here you feel all the emotions at once, constantly reflecting on the memories you cherished with your partner the thoughts later cloud your judgment and affect your way of living.

Acceptance is the moving-on phase, making peace with the loss and having a sense of growth. allowing yourself to heal completely does take time but time does heal.

Although it gets hard to completely get over someone you still love, letting go is the best option after all! there is a saying that goes "Let go of someone if he/she was meant to be with you they will come back" If not even by letting go you remain acknowledging that by accepting that you can't control such situations and looking forward to the future.

Rushing to recover from a breakup is never a good decision because you still need to deal with the 5 stages of the break up otherwise you'll end up carrying things to the next relationship that could jeopardize your future relationship.

Self-care is the best way of coping with a breakup, getting to know yourself and learning your weakness and strengths and loving yourself once again helps in healing, you'll find that with time you'll be back and ready to mingle☺️.

Great advice. My strategy with dealing with a break up is making sure for the first few days after that it I preoccupy myself with to avoid venting out immediately. I surround myself with loved ones to get that feeling of being loved and wanted. Then delete all the conversations on my phone for most times we tend to go back to it, so its counter active measure to avoid remembering the person. Then after I've cooled down, i talk to someone, mostly a close confidant just to reflect on it all. Speaking it out even if it's in front of the mirror is important as most times we tend to blame ourselves. From then on i take it slow in new bonds trying as much as possible not to dive into another as this only hurts more. A picture or two from the gallery is worth keeping so that once you all healed, you can put a face to a past memory and learn from it all.

It's true to accept the stages, sometimes rushing might lead to more damage.
