How objectively are you as a PWD involved in current affairs such as politics?

Several PWDs were elected to various elective offices in Kenya's general elections in 2022. This is simply a small sample, but how many of us are actually encouraged to participate in such procedures that affect our well-being and advancement? How is PWD participation made available and accessible for the different types of disabilities?

I believe it is not only a right but also a responsibility for people with disabilities to be actively involved in current affairs, particularly political activities because policy creation and execution affect our social and economic life. Who can sing our song better than us for a more inclusive society?

Honestly not as involved as I would like to be. I would attribute it to the lack of faith in our leaders. I think politics has turned into a dirty game which I have no intention of being involved in. What I am heavily involved in however, is anything that promotes and empowers the disability community.

For me, I follow political happenings step by step and if need be, I'll go back to history. Beyond the policy level, politics also plays out in so many areas that affect us directly or indirectly.

I don't think politics is dirty its just that the players make it dirty to discourage new entrants into the forray otherwise how come some of our leaders have been in 20 years on and still keeping at it?

More than ever, its the right time to be involved in political and current affairs because things are changing for the better in matters disability. Theres the affirmative action in politics and the Environmental Social and Governance initiatives in business/corporates where disability comes in on the Social part of things. Light For the World does Employability training of persons with disabilities as part of the ESG for the Standard Chartered Bank.

Get involved. Things are looking good.

@Brian54 Don't you think as much as you may say politics has turned into a dirty game, it affects our lives deeply and most of the decisions in the world are made from a political spectrum that it requires you to be actively involved??

I admit that it is all our responsibilities to be well informed and actively participate in in the world of politics but I am currently in place in my life where I give priority to so many other things above politics.
