How does your disability impact your work?

Being a person with a disability I know a thing or two on how it's impacted our work. First, it's influenced what career paths that we can opt for. If you like me with a physical disability, technical jobs that require one to move up and down, bend or just stand long hours.

Two, when you already in the work spaces, if you find yourself in unaccomodative work spaces or inaccessible, one has to struggle just to get to work. Or have to "adapt" especially when one needs the money to survive for its not easy for one to quit a job not knowing where they'll get work next. It's not easy currently getting a job so persons with disability who are in jobs already, keep at it even though it's a struggle with their disability.

Three, other than accessibility of a work place, there's that constant pressure that work has. This means you need to be available or on it and give it your all. When you have an issue, like when you use a wheelchair, at times you get a sore back and have trouble sitting. This will make you either miss work, or you'll be persevering through it hence a long day at work.

Before I came to know about @EnableMe I was working at another accommodative space though I wasn't as comfortable as I have been. Sharing my thoughts and also sharing other people's experiences in this our pwd community, I feel that has helped me get in touch with my purpose well and also earn from it. I just wish we get workplaces that see beyond our disabilities and look into our talents or strengths.
