Ensuring a disability perspective in all aspects of policy and labour legislation, effective implementation and enforcement of existing disability laws and policies and providing for equal employment and training opportunities are among the factors that contribute to the reduction of poverty and to the social and economic growth.
After removing stereotypes, educating people on disabilities and how to handle each, it comes down to representation. I feel that in every disability group or organisation championing rights of person with disability, there needs to be a diverse pool from each disability so that they get representation. In factoring this, it would also be key to consider levels in each disability, to mean those who were born with disabilities, those that got injured early on and got disability and those who later on in life acquired disability. This will have a clear picture of the true needs of people with disability. Then this should also carry on each organisation as the strive to achieve a good thresh-hold of persons with disability in the workforce of organisation. An in depth introduction of disability inclusion and awareness concepts in our curriculum could help foster a generation that is more aware of disabilities so that they grow up understanding it.
