From a kids perspective: Poem to the father

On Fathers day, I like to reflect on what life my father has lived. It's interesting how he's all composed and he does all he can for us. My mum used to say how my father would buy us things and he'd forget to even get something for himself. That's one quality I've learnt already about being a father, is being selfless. At times our fathers aren't in the picture when we growing up but it's because they're providers and that's how they've been wired to. I wrote a poem, to give perspective of what a kid sees when they see their dad.

From the first day I heard your voice

I sensed a feeling of presence

And ever since then you've been in my life

Seeing to it that I get the best of life

On the days that you were home

You'd be keen to ask on how we were fairing on

And in the few words you'd say

We'd feel that you were eager to know

You'd come bearing gifts for us

And you'd leave out yours

And we'd wonder why

But now I know its us who came first

You've made sure we never lacked

That's why you were out and about

It's like you never tired

Cause you knew we looked up to

On the days that you'd be home

We'd see you doze of on the couch and we'd laugh

I see now how it wasn't easy for you

But in all this years you've never complained

Happy father's day to you dad

Happy for the many more

Its great that you were in our lives

We grateful for all the sacrifices you made

The PO£T

Such a heartwarming piece!

You've done absolute justice to Fathers in that piece. The line of fathers dozing off on the couch hit home. A very relatable experience. Nice one @MikkiTarz

Always sacrificing for us and giving their best to ensure we're comfortable. For a person with disability, it's even deeper. They go an extra mile in ensuring they give you a world that feels the same as others.
