In all fronts, its not easy dating someone who already has a kid and now picture that kid having a disability, it becomes a whole lot new territory to navigate. Because with disability might mean more support and care needed plus one needs to be invested in it for a lifetime. Dating someone who already has a kid can be tough, for you know other than winning over that person they'll come a time you'll need to win over the kid(s) too. It might even be more challenging if the kid(s) still have their other parent in the picture as they also need to be part of their life. So one might find him or herself in a trio, and we all know third wheeling is awkward plus three is a crowd.
Dating a person who already has a kid can be challenging because, the dates don't come often because of different engagements with the kid, it might be the only free time they have up, they might be there but their mind is elsewhere since as a parent you can't help but worry what your kid is upto. And because here comes a new person in the mix, that involves explaining to them all this and for most it becomes overwhelming. That forces most single parents to just stick to parenting and along the way if love comes, they'll try to wade those waters for their first priority is their kid.
Having a disability of any kind has its challenges. As seen by most, it would need one parent to be even more invested in the whole upbringing process as the other tries to make a living. It puts strain on many family dynamics cause as a parent you don't have the luxury to just pack and go as you please. It might be hard to even go along to gatherings of any kind with the kid, it might involve you going to that event but instead of being in the moment you keeping an eye on the kid, and you have to pack a little extra as kids tend to need more things.
So for the people who are trying to get into a relationship of any kind with a single parent, especially a single parent who has a kid with disability it's a big ask. A big ask on the prospective lover to be accommodating, to be good listeners, understanding and loving. For the single parent is already going through a lot and for them to even try out love it takes more. They need to be patient because at times things that are simple as meeting the kid might not be the best option. For the kid needs to be eased in slowly cause they're also new to all this.
