My left big toe is partly black and needs to be amputated
My left big toe is partly black and needs to be amputated. My doctor wanted to cut off the lower leg straight away. What experience do you have in this area? My diabetologist told me that about 30 years ago the general rule of thumb was: if the big toe is black, cut off the lower leg, if the ankle is black, cut off the upper leg (because of the poor healing prospects for smaller amputations).
