People living with disabilities go through several challenges in life because society is yet to appreciate their presence. Stigmatization is one of the challenges that the deaf and the blind face in most societies.
True @verogakio. Stigmatisation of disability remains a big challenge in our society today
Yes some time
Yes I agree with this.
I think stigmatization is correctly stated as a great issue and social problem most PWDs face, nonetheless, it all starts with the mindset. How society views and believes about persons with disabilities is a mindset issue that can only be solved by changing and engaging the different stakeholders on how to influence behavioral engagement with PWDs. How can society stop seeing the disability first and either see the person, the abilities, or the potential?
By being productive ourselves and pushing ourselves beyond the limits that the society has set for us. Eg Senator Isaac Mwaura is seen as an asset in any of the political camps by virtue of his oratory and debating skills in Parliament and other political spaces or in political and social issues. His disability comes last in the eyes of the public.
